For small tooth defects tooth-colored, highly esthetic composite restorations, so-called composites, are used at your dentist Lucerne.
The removal of amalgam fillings is useful not only for aesthetic and health reasons, but also if they leak or caries has formed underneath.
Amalgam fillings continuously emit mercury through your mucous membranes and dentin tubules in to your bloodstream, though in very small quantities. Mercury deposits in the body can cause various symptoms, including fatigue, exhaustion and general malaise .
During the amalgam removal we proceed very carefully in order to offer optimum protection. In such a simple way, a gray-black tooth, turns into a natural white tooth within minutes.

Disadvantages of this method:
Due to the shrinkage of the composite during the curing process, leakage on the edge of large fillings can be caused. Over time, the plastic wears out, whereby the optimum tooth shape for the bite is lost. Therefore the long lasting ceramic inlays / partial crowns are recommended for large tooth defects.
