Perfect fit - tooth-colored ceramic

We, in the Dental Clinic Lucerne, are specialized in metal-free, tooth-colored restorations. We are an "amalgam-free zone". Ceramic dentures such as inlays or onlays are recommended for larger tooth defects or larger defect composite fillings. It has the advantages of being very well tolerated by the body, being long-term stable, biocompatible, minimally invasive and non-allergenic. It also provides high-quality aesthetics with the most beautiful results, since dental defects can be corrected invisibly. The difference between an inlay and a tooth for is barely visible, just as if nothing had happened. This is a great advantage in the areas of tooth surfaces that are visible when laughing and talking.

Our goal is always to achieve natural, highly aesthetic results for our patients.

In order to receive inlays / onlays a gentle removal of the old amalgam - or composite filling and rebuilding the structure of the inner core with a tooth-stabilizing material is needed. Since it are laboratory-made fillings made from advanced ceramic, an impression is taken after preparation of the inlay / onlay form. The prepared hole is sealed with a temporary restoration.

During a second appointment the fit and color-accurate ceramic inlay is then gap-free bonded to your tooth (adhesively attached) on the individual anatomy of your chewing surfaces. This modern method allows a very long-lasting and stable supply of your natural tooth.

Supplies with ceramic inlays- / onlays usually have a long-lastingness of over 15 years. In contrast, conventional composite fillings have to be replaced usually after 5-7 years.

Amalgam fillings have a constantly corrosion so that these fillings expand with time and eventually lead to a fracture of your own surrounding tooth substance. Therefore, we recommend that before there is an emergency and your own tooth breaks, the large-surface amalgam fillings should be replaced through minimally invasive therapies, such as highly esthetic ceramic inlays or onlays in the posterior tooth region.

If you value invisible and long-lasting fillings, laboratory-made ceramic inlays or partial crowns (onlays) are the most beautiful and most natural alternative in dental fillings.

We prefer the indirect, laboratory-made production method, rather than direct chair side inlays as CEREC®.

The advantages of laboratory inlays are in marginal (fit), the surface finish and color (glaze firing) as well as the function (occlusal shape).

The only advantage of chair-side made computer-inlays is that they can be inserted during the same session and are considerably cheaper (lab costs account), appears to be advantageous for the patient. However, such an appointment takes longer than the two appointments together for a lab-made inlay.

In our view, you should preferably choose the higher quality lab-made inlays when investing in an inlay treatment. An investment that clearly pays of by its durability and quality.
